SURFING- William Pike challenge 1

On Monday 21st March the Year 7/8s from Rimu Class went surfing for the day at Sumner Beach for the first William Pike challenge award. First we learnt some basic things about surfing then we moved on to some harder things. After a while we moved in the water and started surfing. It was really fun. And i could see my classmates having fun as well.

I see waves
I see people having fun.

I hear screams of joy
I hear dogs barking on the sand

I feel waves crashing onto my head
I feel the sand on my feet

I touched the dog as it went past on the beach
I smell salty water

I wait until the perfect wave to come for me to surf
I see dogs on the beach having fun with each other

I can't wait to go surfing again
I felt the swimsuit tightening my body

My essay on Wonder by RJ. Palacio

Our reading task have been on a book written in first person by R.J Palacio. We had to answer questions about the Book and we also had to write a small essay which you can view below. I kind of like the book but I am more of a person who likes horror and scary books than nice books.

I think R.J Palacio uses first person when she tells ‘Wonder’. There are 3 examples as to why I think this.

Palacia has used first person in chapter 1 “ordinary”  at the start because he said  “I am not an ordinary ten year old kid” meaning that he used first person language because he said I and my.

August also says in chapter 2 “Why I don't go to school” when he said
“Next week I start fifth grade” meaning that he used first person language because he said I and my.
The last reason is that in chapter 3 “How I came to live” when he said I like it when mum tells me stories, It makes me laugh” meaning that he used first person language because he said I and my.

Therefore I conclude that Wonder is written in first person and is a great book to read so if you are looking for a nice book to read Wonder is the perfect book for you.
