Shukoor's Mihi

In the first 2 weeks of school, Rimu class learnt how to create and say our mihimihi in Maori. This is our introduction to our class and community. We also created a visual mihimihi, artwork accompany our speeches. Each individual mihi had 3 parts to it.

  1. A self portrait or a photo
  2. Places of significance to you
  3. Symbols of pictures that represent our culture.

Those of us who spoke clearly, confidently with excellent pronunciation with great visuals and layout scored as well on our rubric. Take a look at my finished mihi and tell us what you think about it.

  1. Well done Shukoor. Great pronunciation! Can you check - you are from Afghanistan, but live in Christchurch yes? Any challenges throughout this process?
Great job - keep up with good work ethic.

  2. This is superb Shukoor. I love the melding of imagery with your voice. Your voice is also clear and engaging. I also admire how you have edited your transitions. Good work!

  3. Hi Shukoor!
Great Mihi. I liked how you didn't make it too loud.
Would you change anything next time?
